This teapot originally formed part of a tea set which would have included a similarly decorated sugar bowl and creamer. Bright colored glazes and naturalistic designs such as featured on this teapot were popular with Victorians. Object for use with tea were often decorated with “Eastern” motifs, referencing the oriental origins of tea drinking.
